No longer am I dependent on my own strengths and abilities, but rather I am enlisting the help of those who are capable of so much more than I could imagine.

If I built a team of 5 Trivinias here is what would happen…
- We wouldn’t have efficient meetings because we’d all talk about random thoughts that pop into our heads.
- We would all have amazing ideas (I mean, come on!) but they would remain just that, IDEAS.
- We would all work hard and not maintain a healthy work/ life balance.
Instead of wishing there were 5 of you to manage your business. Change your mindset to depend on the skill set of individuals with different strengths to join your team.
You get to operate in your strength
This is the beauty of individuality. We all have our own strengths and when we operate in those strengths, we grow.
You see, I need my team to keep the conversation flowing. I need Chris to take charge of our weekly meeting and design a strategic plan for them. Otherwise, we would spend a lot of time talking about what I felt like at the time, rather than host an efficient team meeting.
We would have a good time, have a lot of great ideas and plans, but we would close the hour and not have a game plan for our next sprint. Having a team member to guide the calls makes it a much more pleasant experience for all of us. I get to share my ideas and we end the call with a plan in place. That’s a good feeling!
Your team puts legs to your ideas
I say this with all the humility in the world… I have some freaking great ideas!
I’m what some call a visionary. I can strategize all day long, but when it comes to implementation I have to be honest… I don’t love it.
It isn’t that I don’t want to do it because let’s be honest… if I need to do something, I’ll roll up my sleeves and get it done. I’m not afraid of hard work. I’ve just learned over the years that it takes me twice as long as some of my team members to get something done.
My life wouldn’t be the same if I didn’t have Monica to put my ideas into action. All I have to do is say “You know, I’ve been thinking about doing x,y, and z…” a few keyboard strokes later and viola! She has brought my idea to life! Not in a bride of Frankenstein way, but she would love it if that could happen!
You begin to see a work/ life balance
We’re all searching for that perfect work/ life balance and quite honestly, I don’t think we’ll ever hit the mark perfectly. It’s a good goal to aim for but often times unrealistic.
When I started my business and was managing it all by my lonesome, this was my pain point. I missed my family. I missed my friends. I missed reading a book at night because I was too busy having to learn a new program.
It didn’t make sense. Why was I spending all of my time trying to build a better life for my family when I was locked away 18 hours a day not letting them into my day, evening or 5 feet near my office door? I decided that something needed to change and I hired an Executive Assistant for myself.
We’ve spent the last few year defining what my day looks like. So much so, that she will block time for me to shut my computer down in the evening, make sure that I’m present to school programs and ensuring that I am in fact taking mental health breaks when I need them.
Running a business is hard work. Hiring a VA doesn’t mean that you get to stop working hard. The beauty is that you get to work hard on the things that matter most to you.
I still operate as CEO of my business. I’m the one out there recruiting clients, casting vision and networking to building my business. But what has changed, what has caused my life to shift, is that I have a trusted team around me who are gifted in ways that I’m not. We are able to work in tandem on projects because we know that together, we are better.
